Personally
for me it’s a bit tricky to talk about this. because this is my first year at
the university so my ideas are going to be very intuitive more than an empiric
answer. First of all we have to understand that architecture is a very
different career /I don’t want to sound like a cretin/I said it in that way because what we do(at first) in
long terms is related more in what we feel that a logic process (we really can
argue about it. but what I want to say is that there’s a sensitive way to see
the world we have that is not completely
present in other careers. cause this is what we do)
More into
the topic, this year Universidad de Chile has implemented a new program so we’re
the first generation with this new curriculum. I’m in a position where not only
this is my first year but I’m the first new generation with this new program. Basically
I’m on the guinea pig generation.
Another thing
that Universidad de Chile has is the academic freedom so every workshop teacher
can teach you what he really wants. In this point I can say that this can be
good and bad at the same time. Good because yeah, you got like 10 ways to see
architecture and this gives you a very special experience. But it can be a
disaster if in your first year you pick a teacher that doesn’t teach you
nothing. So it can happen that you arrive next year at a new workshop and you know
nothing.
About the
new curriculum I’ve heard that is more relaxed that the older one. But the
problem is that not every teacher is implementing it. If the original idea was
having more time to rest and to do a better work for wortkshop this is not
working in all classes.
About infrastructure
I have to say that I come from a public school. So at least for me this is
good, yes it can be better. Yes we really need more space to work but it’s not
the end of the world. About that there was a rumour that dean Pizzi is
searching for a new place to move the faculty there. And give this to FEN. We need
more space so probably we’re going to move into the next 10 years. Where are we
going to be? I have no idea
proyect that pizzi rejected cause she want to move to another part (she gaves another explanation)
old curriculum 12 semester
new curriculum 11 semester
I think that sometimes we stay on the old curriculum because not every teachers respects the new one... You know what I mean
ReplyDeleteI also like the freedom that we have in the workshops. It's awesome that they are all so different one from eachother
